• It is one of the first 7 departments opened in its field in our country, and started education in 1972 under the name of Electrical Engineering within the Elazığ State Engineering and Architecture Academy. In 1982, it joined Fırat University Faculty of Engineering. In 1986, it was renamed the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

• It had its first graduates in 1976, and the number of graduates it has graduated to date is around 10000.

• Educational activities; It is carried out in the independent Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering building. This building has 9 classrooms, 5 laboratories and a computer laboratory equipped with 50 computers. The total area of ​​classrooms is 764 m2, and the total area of ​​laboratory areas is 2072 m2.

• By using all the opportunities of modern education, our students are provided with a quality education that will compete with other universities nationally and internationally. • Our graduates are trained as entrepreneurs and encouraged to establish companies in Fırat Teknokent or other Technoparks of our country.

•  We are one of the first departments whose diploma is accepted by the European Union (EACEA).

• We are one of the first departments to be accredited by MÜDEK on a national basis. 

• Our students are started in practical applications starting from the 1st grade. There are sections reserved for our students in our laboratories for their practical work.

• A total of 2072 m2 of closed area is available for laboratories. We have the most special and instructive Electrical Machines Laboratory in our country.

• For nearly 50 years, our department has made great contributions to the education and training system, producing many graduates and providing useful individuals to society.

• We are one of the departments at our university that send the most students within the scope of ERASMUS+ Education Mobility.
