The Adaptation Committee is responsible for evaluating course equivalencies for students transferring from different higher education institutions, including horizontal transfers, vertical transfers (DGS), double major, minor, or special student status. The committee determines the appropriate course adaptations based on the student’s previous studies.
Application Evaluation:
To examine the applications for horizontal transfers, vertical transfers (DGS), double major, minor, and special student status in terms of compliance with the department’s course program and university regulations.
Determining Course Equivalencies:
To assess the equivalency of courses taken by the applicant at their previous institution by comparing the content and credits with the department curriculum.
Preparation of the Adaptation Table:
To prepare an official adaptation table that indicates which courses the students are exempt from and which courses they need to retake, and submit it for approval.
Compliance with University and YÖK Regulations:
To ensure that all adaptation procedures are carried out in compliance with the regulations of YÖK, ÖSYM, and the university.
Support for Advisor Assignment Process:
To assist in the process of assigning appropriate advisors to newly adapted students and provide information to advisors regarding the adaptation process.
Review of Previous Academic Performance:
To review the applicant’s previous academic transcripts, grading systems, and course contents in detail.
Officialization of Decisions:
To formalize the committee’s decisions by preparing minutes and submitting them for approval by the department council, and ensure that official correspondence is processed.
Student Notification:
To formally inform students about the courses they are exempt from or required to retake as a result of the adaptation process.
